Dad and I wanted to do an 'end of our mission' celebration, and decided to fly in our 4 kids to re-experience Cedar Point. It had been a long time since most of us have been there, but Bret and Tevia went last year.
It didn't work out for Tom, because they had the amazing opportunity to welcome a new son into their family that very week.
Jimmy was able to attend for the first time, Cari volunteered to watch Kathy's children and Jacob was able to fit the trip in among many others he has this time of year. Tevia and Bret came early as Bret had some work in Cleveland.
All in all, it couldn't have gone better! I worried about weather and planes and timing, and yet, it all came together as a fun and lovely experience.
The weather was perfect, really, not too cold or not too hot, no rain.
They got to ride every ride they wanted to, some several times, some in the first seat.
The hotel was nice except for poor Jake had to sleep on the floor on couch cushions because I thought there was another couch in the room. And Kathy & Jimmy's sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable.
But the hotel itself was pretty and they did a good job with their outside patio's and fire pits and beach activities.
It was not very crowded. June is a good time to go.
We stayed until about 8. There was a Cavs game on at 9, championship.
We stayed at the Hampton inn. Not too bad.
The next day my sister had planned a fun family reunion to get to know Jimmy, (the family had never met him), and to celebrate the end our our mission.
In attendance: Michael and Marsha, mom, Frank, Fred and Kathy, and Jesse, Dan, and their 3 kids.
Sam, (Wilda) stopped by to say hi! We met at the church where Michael is bishop.
We basically just hung around in the gym until a little before all the AZ people's plane took off.
Wonderful weekend! Great memories!
I should have taken more photos!
