I know that bret loves eating cookie dough. But is it so wrong of me to get annoyed when I ask him not to eat it, and he does anyway? Where is the respect? I guess when you are bigger than your opponent, you might as well take advantage. Arrrgggghhhhh.........

House of Flying Daggers
What a fabulous date I had last night. Tevia and I caught the 10:30 PM viewing of House of Flying Daggers. It was awesome. I love these Chinese films like Hero and Crouching Tiger. They are so beautiful, touching, and exciting. Zhang Ziyi pulled off another spectacular performance as the blind Mei. I can't wait to get this on DVD. I don't know why I am so intrigued by these movies. Every part of them inspires me: the language, the cinematography, the acting, the music, the costumes. It was a night where it doesn't make you feel so bad that you plopped down $20 to see a movie.
When we left the theater, we were practically the only ones there. It was one of those rare Phoenix nights where it was actuallly cool and humid - almost like NY in the spring. The movie deals a lot with love, and how love can happen even when you don't want it to. The choreography of the fights was amazing, as Zhang Yimou (director) once again creates a world that is breathtaking and instantly draws you in. It was a great follow up to Hero - and The Road Home. We loved it. Every time I see one of these films, I want to go to China (though much of this was filmed in other locations). It was by far the best movie I have seen in months.

Blog Shmog
So this is strange... but I guess it's a good way to keep in touch... and could save my text messages... maybe.
Anyway, what do you mean Phantom movie was a bust??? I went to see it last night, and with the exception of an added sword fight between Phantom and Raul, I thought it was very accurate... additoinally, I don't think you could have asked for a better performance from Minnie Driver... although she's not the best actress, (a bit annoying in other movies she's been in) I thought she was superb! The whole movie was great and I'd reccommend it to anyone.

the real girls night out
Well, here it is...Girls night out was a success and will hopefully happen on a more frequent basis. :) The only downside is that Phantom of the Opera (movie version) was a bust! But we had a splendid time ripping it apart. And best of all was the Cheesecake!!!!! Hope you all have a great weekend.

Girls' night out
Tevia went out with her sister and two friends. Oddly enough, Tevia's good friend Julie happens to have a sister named Valerie who is good friends with Risa. An odd coincidence has given them an excuse to go out tonight. I have the boys, who are now asleep. I think Tevia went to see a movie. I am listening to Dashboard Confessionals and also have the last Johnny Cash CD to listen to - I love his rendition of Hurt (a cover of the song by Nine Inch Nails). Tomorrow we are supposed to go to Turf Paradise to see the horse races, then go to a Primary dinner, and then a date afterwards, which hopefully will be a movie (House of Flying Daggers!). In the morning I will attempt football again. Last week, though I scored 3 touchdowns, I hurt for 4 days! Not quite the same muscles I use in basketball. But it was mad fun (a nod to NY slang).
The future of the journal?
For years now I have struggled as a member of the information generation on how to keep a journal. Should I write it down in a book? Should I write on my computer? With nothing working well (lately I have been putting it on my computer in a Word file), I thought this must be the answer I have been searching for. Plus it appears to be a place where we can also communicate as a family and have some fun. This whole blogging thing is new to me, but I am anxious to learn.
