well bret and tevia, im sure you remember even though you probably dont want to that when you guys lived in connecticut for awhile i would come up all the time and hang out with you guys. probably one of the best summers ive had i might add, just because i got closer to all of you (bret tevs and jarek) especially tevia which i was so grateful for. but anyways to my point, we would go several fun places but almost every time you guys would get into a fight, simply due to directions. and i remember in the back seat i would just laugh to myself because i thought you both were crazy and that it couldnt be that hard. well from now on i give you both alot of credit because you held your cool alot better than i did yesterday on my way to and from the palisades mall.
karen traci and i all decided to go to the palisades mall yesterday to go get dessert at the cheesecake factory. because one, we love that place, two, we wanted to do something fun and different, and three, we love taking little road trips (us driving, with our sunglasses on, the windows down, and the music loud) ha, well this trip was quite different.
now i was driving mind you, and before i left mom of course said, are you sure you know how to get there? and miss know it all me said yes. i mean i pretty much knew what i was doing and i figured traci and karen must know alittle something too so we would be okay. but of course i was wrong. we get into the car and i ask if they know how to get there and they said not at all so we went on map quest really quick and not till i was almost at the bridge did we realize that the map quest way was completely bogus. so we decided to just wing it. boy was that a wonderful idea. we must have stopped and turned around a hundred times. since im horrible at directions i was hesitant and even though i knew what i was doing, when traci or karen would say do something i would and then we would be lost again. eventually i was screaming. the girls found us getting lost amusing and this made me even morefurious. oh ya and did i mention it was hailing and beyond foggy. finally after i called almost everyone on my phone list and lost half a lung we finally got there. and it was amazing. the food was incredible. we got both appetizers and desserts. for dessert i just got strawberries with whip cream because i was full from my crab cakes but it was so good and we had so much fun. then while we were walking out, this cute bus boy who i had been eyeing the whole time came up to me and gave me his number lol. it was a good time.
well by then i was in a great mood and expected the ride home to be quick and relaxing. once again i was wrong. we got even more lost. well, to make my story somewhat shorter if thats even possible, we ended up an hour from home after already driving an hour and half in a town called goshen and me calling mom hysterically crying. and i wasnt crying in some corner by myself. i was at a highschool who just happened to be having a school play that night and i was passed by at least 50 people staring at me like i was some freaky alien. and mom was not at home alone either. she was in the middle of her talent show and told the whole stake that i was lost. it was a great experience, let me tell you.
the only good things about this little trip was, we got to eat at the cheesecake factory, i got some cute kid's number, i got to talk to some cute police officer, and i no longer think bret and tevia are dumb when they drive. (sorry i thought that before guys) i was a whole lot more frustrated than either of you. i have to say though i did have to laugh at myself acouple times. it wasnt THAT bad, but none the less i have a road rage and temper problem that i need to work on. k well hope you werent too bored by my crazy story.

great story! How fun. Actually, Tevia and I are much better these days at directions. We try to plan before we get in the car - and honestly it works best if I do the map and she drives. But getting lost can be very frustrating.
If you want another great summer, come out here for the summer!
I am just blogging so kathy gets a comment! hee hee. no, actually, Kathy, you are a good story writer, and I am so glad you are blogging with us. I am so glad you made it home safe.
Hey Kath, great story. I am glad you got home safe. Driving out there is a little more frustrating than driving in Phoenix. Here there are less places to get lost and not as many trees around to make you feel disoriented. You know you have gone too far when all you see around you is desert!
It is good to see you recognize your "road rage". That is a hard one to control, because there are so many awful drivers out there. Just remember, keeping a cool head makes a big difference and you will be able to hear any small promptings that may help you out. Anger drives the spirit away and then it is hard to have comfort too! I know I sound preachy, but it is Sunday afterall!!!
Anyhow, the best way to learn your way around is by driving and learning as you go. Just remember, nobody minds giving directions to cute girls, so don't be afraid to ask when your lost!!
Hey Kath,
Yes, good story. And I think as time goes on, if you reflect back on this (and other stories) you will find you actually gained MUCH more from it than just a good dinner at The Cheesecake Factory, or a number from a cute boy. (and I'm not trying to make small of either of those premiums, but you'll find you've gained much more). Life has a great way of showing us our weaknesses and helping us grow from them... if we are humble enough to reccognise that they really are weaknesses. Someday you'll look back and laugh at yourself for getting so upset at your friends or so emotional in such a situation. And things wont be easier because the situation will be easier, but rather, your capacity to deal with such matters will have increases.
This point was brought out in either conference this month or one of my institute classes (I can't remember) but basically:
The atonement is ALL encompasing. It is there to not only cleanse us and take away our sin, but also to streangthen us for trials yet to come. The trials will never become less complicated or less significant, but our ability to bare them and get through them will... I've seen this in my own (as well as other's) life... uh, and people say there's no such thing as miricles!
Nice story hun. I wish I could have been there to help you. I am glad you are home safe.
